Is Loyalty For Sale....At What Price ????

Loyalty Dog

There are some agents who have determined that the cure for their ailing sales in real estate is to have their buyers and sellers PAY for loyalty....Yes, I know...hard to believe....rubs my ethics the wrong way.....We all work for money.  It seems that for some people, somewhere along the way....to my way of thinking...got their priorities shuffled. Yes, we all need to make a living....BUT when we start charging for Buyer Agency....Charging a Distressed Home Owner an Up Front Fee for listing a Short Sale...because that BUYS the loyalty of the those poor misinformed buyers and sellers....is it about THEM ?

When you make THEM your top priority....that first time buyer sooo excited about a new home and you walk them thru the process and teach them the things to look for in value, inspection, lending...contractors....That distressed, depressed seller who want have to face garnishment of his/her salary because you did a successful short sale.

Over 98 per cent of our business last year was by referral.....we didn't buy loyalty....we did it the old fashioned way.....we earned it.....Is your loyalty for sale ?

Princess

I recently heard there are people out there charging fees up front. I am with you my friend; I thought we got paid on performance and not speculation. I know how much your clients care about you, and that is why you are the short sale princess in Wisconsin.

Sincerely

Tom Braatz

The very least we can all do ,....is "care back" and not have our hand out for payment when that should be part of the service we provide.

Sally & David, there will always be those people out there who take advantage of other people's misfortunes.  Hopefully, they will not be in the Real Estate industry long.

Good thought Troy...the real joke is that those same people think that this is a way to add to their income and STAY in the industry....let's hope not !

Sally & David - I just love your post - It is so timely. What you earn is in direct response to the service you provide . . . right????? This is happening more and more each day. I am working with a great gal from Westbend who is trying to refinance her ARM - Lenders are so picky and her property is difficult to comp out. This has required several changes to the appraisal's wording etc. Each and every-time, the appraiser is charging additional $$$ for a service... The latest was yesterday, when he slapped an additional $135 to search for additional comps and make a statement in the appraisal indicating there were none available -

He was referred by another Realtor and needless to say . . . I will not be calling him any time in the furture to appraise a property . . . . I hope things are well with your brother. Thanks again for the great post.....
