How's Your Health ? Insurance will Protect Your Financial Security

We know sStethoscopeeveral people who are or who have been self-employed and do not have health insurance. It is expensive...hard to get...they have prior conditions the company won't insure...they can't join or don't qualify for a group plan.  There are lots of reasons....and the problem is that if you have no health insurance....just a slip down the stairs...a car accident...whatever the catastrophe....it can take you down the "over your head in medical debt" road in a real hurry.

Realtors of course are self-employed....and while some associations and chambers of commerce offer plans, age, prior health conditions, cost etc. may be obstacles in becoming insured.

In Wisconsin, we are very lucky....we have two plans for which people may apply....and it is because of one them that I have insurance. As a type 2 diabetic, and self employed...no insurance company wanted to insure me. I know all the side effects that diabetics can and do have....they can be serious, expensive and disabling.  I have health insurance through the state of Wisconsin...it is called HIRSP. HIRSP  is insurance for people who have been refused by at least two companies...that is not at all difficult with my health history...and not difficult for lots of people who may have something as common as high blood pressure. Don't let no health insurance cripple you financially if you should have a health problem....if you are a Wisconsin Resident...go to: www.Hirsp.org and you will learn the rates...they are only based upon age and sex and not your health history.

If you qualify financially, you may also look into Badger Care....this can help children in need of health care coverage in Wisconsin, go to: http://www.badgercareplus.org/core.

Be smart...be financially safe...take care of your health !

Not having Health insurance can be really a problem if one were to get really sick for a while.

this may not be the time to talk about unions as they are a bad word with what is going on with teh big auto makers, but as a group realtors need health insurance options

Our brokerage offers a plan....but like many other plans...it's for people who have no serious pre-existing conditions....so health insurance for the healthy is really NO HELP...thank you for your comment and happiest of holidays.

Good point.  Protecting your health really can protect your bank account. Unfortunately, it is hard to find the best coverage that pays for preventive medicine.  You really have to shop around

U Bet Brian...as your Grandmother probably said...an ounce of prevention really IS worth a pound of cure...Wisconsin has a plan that is offered to everyone...and thankfully it excludes pre-exisiting conditions and preventative care is always counted toward your deductible...to your health !
