Relocate to Wisconsin : Short Sales Leave Long Lasting Memories

Short Sales Leave Long Lasting Memories

When we saw the real estate market taking a tumble in other parts of the country....we knew it would at some time, make an unwelcome viChicken Littlesit to southeastern Wisconsin.  Agents were leaving the business and if Chicken Little could be might have head the sky  was home prices took a severe dive.  As  Real Estate wanted to put your finger in the wanted it to stop...and for what seemed  like forever, it would not.

We went to classes in three states and worked with an attorney in Wisconsin developing our own methods of working our way to successfully closing the dozens of short sales that streamed into our practice.

There were many sad stories....and we are thrilled that years later, we have been able to help these same, once underwater Sellers become Big Doghomeowners once again ....getting back to living the American Dream and a fresh start.       In one case, a newly single Mom of three girls had become a widow. The girls had a dog that had been their comfort during this difficult time...he was HUGE...bigger than they were then....and he slept with them, cuddled and comforted them.  He was their security blanket.

Their Mom knew that finding a place to rent with a dog that size would be very difficult....and so it becoame a daily ritual..."Sally, I know you can fiind a way for me to buy a house." If EVER I wanted a miracle...this was the time. The government would not allow any govenment backed mortgage for years...not iminute after closing on a short sale.   The daily calls and pleading continued....and the sleepless nights ensued...I am sure at their house as well as ours.

Finally I spoke with the head of mortgage lending at a local credit union...and tugged at her heart strings and urged her to talk to this really Upside down housevery credt worthy Mom who just needed a smaller house....and immediately after closing on a short sale of a much larger one. Becoming a widow very unexpectedly had made it unaffordable.  After what seemed like forever....a preapproval was issued....we went house shopping and found just the right house at the right  price with a big back yard that the both the kids and the dog were going to love.

We closed on the short sale in the morning and the new house in the afternoHappily ever afteron....not even I believed it was happening....tears all around...and the happily ever after that this family deserved was finally reality,

This is a post honoring Short Sale Sellers who not only survived their tragedy but found the strength to once again thrive and grab that great second chance  they so richly deserve. With respect, Sally K. & David L. Hanson, Broker Associates with Keller Williams honored to serve southeastern Wisconsin for all things real estate.

Great job Sally.  Not many agents could have done what is really an impossible task for most.

This is truly a lovely story, Sally and David. I remember showing short-sale homes when there were so many of them... and it always tugged at my heart-strings when I was in a beautifully cared for home which was clearly loved by its owners who could no longer stay in it.

Love it when I hear these wonderful examples of excellence. You two lead with the heart, and obviously purchasing a short sale was her answer to affordable housing. Great story - and the addition of the dog makes it that much sweeter.

Another good story!  As to short sales, some of my longest lasting memories weren't in the good category!  Disasters!

I remember the days of being able to talk with the lender and underwriter and personalize the buyer. Now it is so mechanical and unrelenting. Nice story, Sally and David.

Morning Sally.

I have dealt with several of these in my short time in this business.  One cannot allow themselves to get emotionally involved, but it happens.  Good for you and David.  I'm sure she'll be singing your praises for a long time

Helping people, especially the ones that are a tough situation that needs housing the most with kids. Lead the charge like Sally K. & David L. Hanson do. You are a great example of how you adjusting your "sales" when real estate winds change direction. You weather the storm and help your short sales make the long leap to the dry land of real estate closings one after another in your market place. Shore sales should be called long sales.

I do short sales now - and they are rewarding in many instances - I have people cry to be done with that misery!

Sally and David, Many local banks and credit unions really did come through during the rough years as your story pointed out.  Such a wonderful ending to a very hard situation!  Great work!
