I know everyone has just been holding their breath waiting to see our bathroom remodel...or not...well, here it is anyway.The only thing that remained was the solid cherry vanity, everything else from floor to ceiling, vanity top to my beloved Toto toliet and shower which "grew" an additional foot wider is NEW !
No there are not before and after pictures and given our limited photography skills...it's amazing that the "After" has no faces and everything is right side up !
The floor used to have large ceramic tile in off white...here it is in "shades of gray hexagon with gray grout....The rugs at the moment are plushy gray but that is always subject to change with the towels and make it a "whole new room."
The new mirror with a "touch of glam" is over tile with pencil edging around it to give it a more finished appearance.
Fixtures and vanity hardware are oiled bronze. The sink is hammered copper...I LOVE it ! The vanity top is quartz white with tiny bits of gray veining.
We come from the anything worth doing school is worth doing well....and made the shower a foot wider than it was...the fixtures are oiled bronze....and the showerhead changes colors as the water warms...sorry my limited photographic skills didn't capture that...but you will have to just imagine...it's FUN !
One of the goals in the shower was NO grout...the walls are sealed carrera marble and sit on a shower pan that was specially poured in Northern Wisconsin and delivered to us;
all 350 pounds of it ! And Dini was of course in charge of general contracting supervision before the shower pan was in place, our plumber had put a rag in the drain...which Dini
felt looked out of place and removed it and took a trip down into the finished basement and walked around the ceiling tile until he heard his father calling him and then hopped down and waltzed around the room as though he was just taking a tour of the lower level...I forget what life he is on....but he has used a few !
While the picture doesn't look that way...the shower pan is textured gray and and works well with the rest of the room.
We "go green" as we remodel and our Toto toliet is energy
efficient and a bit more of "stretch"....or should I say reach than the one it replaced...but cute without the clunky conventional tank we have in this part of the world. While I appreciate this is "common place" for some parts of the country....not as common here.
The walls....are Ralph Lauren silver metallic. Ralph and I were forced to end our painting relationship in January when he discontinued his paint line....I will have to get past the "jilt" and find another love before the next project...and you know that there will be one !
I have never ever been a fan of shower doors...regardless of how soft the water....I don't like how they look from the outside and makes me feel like a cage from the inside...so there are none in our whole house...showers should be relaxing...not confining is our belief. I LOVE the look of Shabby chic with a touch of glam and so here it is...the curtain...It took two...and had the outside one made floor to ceiling. The silver curtain is almost the same length and what you can't see is a clear poly curtain that protects them both from getting soaked while I enjoy being soaked ! Not a great picture and sometimes the curtain is swept to one side with more of the silver metallic one underneath shown. And how could be glamorous without the "jewel" encrusted tie decor !
Voila ! It's Done ! We are seriously considering having a "shower" for our shower" with the plumber, tile sales person, marble person...we use most any excuse to entertain....and a shower for a shower seems as good as any, hmmmm ?
If you or anyone you know is Selling or Buying real estate in southeastern Wisconsin...the Hansons cannot only help you with the purchase...but we have hands on and experience with remodeling and are happy to refer you the contractors that will produce the result you imagined.
