Moving can be a daunting...exhausting...time consuming task. Sometimes sellers are not looking for one more thing to put on their "to do" list to get the house ready to sell.
- The magazines they kept for the articles that "some day" they would clip, organize, catalog
_ Clothes that will come back in style...or a
_ Clothes that will come back in style...or a
shape that once was will return in a few
pounds- Aunt Mary's old _______________that you really can't part with because it was a gift from Aunt Mary....
- Junior's first art creation that keeps the memory of his childhood alive and well and the closet/attic/basement cluttered
- Holiday decorations from New Year's, Valentine's, St.
Pat's,Halloween etc...that are missing lights, are bigger than the
house you will be moving to...
-The kitchen appliance that only juices oranges not more than
2.24" in diameter...but it's a "healthy appliance" and some
day....
There are "Clutter Keepers and Memory Savers"...and I must admit, I am a recovering one myself so I have great empathy for the "what to throw away/donate decisions...it's hard...it's another life chapter and the will to turn the page can be difficult.
We always tell people that there is a way you live in the house...your colors, your stuff, your "most possible furniture per square inch"....etc., and then there is the way you sell it..
When an About to be Seller bemoans removing the multi-color "go with anything" carpeting..the multitude of glow in the dark stickers on jr's ceiling, flocked walllpaper...our mantra is "No one can hate neutral". They may opt to change it to blue, faux paint it, cover it, uncover it...but they can't hate it.

Soooo...get out that eye candy recipe and know that regardless of how many homes are on the market in your area...getting all dressed up and ready to sell in calm, neutral tones will help your potential buyers imagine their furnishings in your home...and now back to my purple kitchen...

I want to see a picture of your purple kitchen. :-)
You think I am kidding...I am the Princess of Purple....stay tuned for a future blog ! It's grape that makes the world go 'round !
Purple is good if its a cow or a song like Purple Rain...but a kitchen? Nahhhh...
I think the purple kitchen would make for a good blog. I will be watching for it too.
It is amazing how much stuff folks really collect. I think we just seem to have a bad case of pack-ratitis...
i know those of you not into the grape thing are not believing me...it's TRUE....it is PURPLE......and since I am bent on doing a blog daily...stay tuned...it will appear !
Great advice. When changing the flooring for homes going on the market, I always recommend neutral. And, LOL on the purple kitchen. I have a customer w/ a purple bathroom - the tub and toilet are purple. It will be expensive to fix because the whole bathroom is a disaster w/ cracking tile and sloping floors. Not a simple fix.
Hi guys...I had to giggle...not only on keeping clothes that hopefully I will fit back into someday, but also on the color schemes...yup, I admit to liking to see some bold color choices, tastefully done of course, instead of all the neutral tones every home I show, but I do agree with you it must be done...until then, I will go grab more coffee from my modern kitchen with a bold orange wall in it! :-)
There is a way you live and a way you sell......I'd like that purple toliet Deb ! And enjoy your orange Kristin...you aren't moving this week !
Sally: Why is it I have no trouble believing that YOU would have a purple kitchen? Purple says "pizzazz", "personality", "passion"! And those are you in a nutshell. Don't forget to post those pics, Sally!

How true; I still have the first crayon mark that my son put on paper. I girlfriends favorite color is purple; she wears it well. Who is the thin gal next to David?
