Relocate to Wisconsin : Green Television....Re-cycle with Best Buy !

Green Television....Re-cycle with Best Buy !

tv  You may have as we did...the television that has been replaced but never quite made out of the house, garage, rec room.  You got sooo used to seeing it,  it became a natural part of the interior of your ___________and you forgot that  at one time, it was a home entertainment center and is now a lump of glass, plastic, wire, etc. that serves as a place for dust to call home.

In the interest of going green, getting rid of eyesores, making room for the good...we went to the

Best Buy  in WauwatoBest Buysa and gave them our entertainment relics to re-cycle...and they charged $10 each.  In addition to the good news of feeling good about...cleaning...going green....becoming eyesore-less....the other good news is that Best Buy is also a smart business. While there was a $10 per set charge...they give you a $10 Best Buy gift certificate for each set....so you are "better than even !"

Best Buy takes recycling very seriously....as we all should...and even the gift certificate that you are given is recyclable plastic.....best buy recycles

Thanks for the tip Sally! Definitely a "best buy" when it comes to getting back what you put into it. And I so love Best Buy! I used to say it was my husband's candy store, and now it's mine too!

Anything we can do to keep stuff out of the landfills is worthwhile. Thanks for sharing the information.

I get a "Green" newsletter every morning and I recently read about this.  Thanks for bringing it to the Community's attention.

In CA we pay an electronics disposal fee with all new TVs, computer monitors, etc.  The one I have a hard time finding is old battery recyclers.  They shouldn"t go in landfills (although many probably still do ssince they are so small) but I have bags of them and I have taken them to reclycle days at a local school a couple of times and they wouldn't take them.

S&D, I do recycle. I didn't know this about Best Buy otherwise I would have purchased my new set from them...

What are they doing to recycle Sally?  Recondition them and give them away?  By the way, the new flat screens take much more energy than the old fat TVs did.  And you can go other places to do this, if it is important to you.  Personally, I don't go to Best Buy for ANY reason...

Different parts of the country have different options....here when we made about a dozen calls to people we thought might take TV's to recycle them...we found Best Buy to be our only option.

Hey Steve....have you tried googling battery recycle San Diego or call someplace else that recycles and see if they may know a place for the batteries...good luck !
