Muskego WI can mean affordable lakefront living for anyone wanting to walk out their door, cross the deck or patio and feel the sand squish between their toes and water lap against their legs in a few short steps.  Muskego is a Waukesha County suburb with an estimated population of   22,851  and a land area of  31.2 square miles . The name Muskego, like a lot of cities in Wisconsin, is the derivative of an Indian word, in this case from the Potawatomi Indian name for the area, "Mus-kee-Guaac", meaning sunfish. The Potawatomi were the original inhabitants of Muskego.
