We Have A Love Affair

There's always something to do....places to go...events, exhibits, museums, summer strolls thru the Farmers' Market

Some people say the reason they live and stay here is the change of the seasons...each one with it's own magic from Mother Nature....my personal favorite is the fall....when a walk or drive through one of our many county parks treats you to a blaze of color....challenging your camera, your memory... to capture all the colors at just a glance.

The winter brings out the best in Jack Frost's artistic abilities on windows....and blankets woven of teeny, tiny snowflakes covering the landscape and coming together to bend the strongest pines.  Children build snow people, forts and castles...laying on lawns with arms outstretched and moving up and down to make "Snow Angel" imprints.  Sleds, toboggans and the ever-popular saucers fly down hills and skates etch patterns into the frozen ponds.  We celebrate it with  snow and ice sculptures or you may wish to spend some inside at one of Milwaukee tourist attractions.  Milwaukee has long been known affectionately as Brew City..
Miller Brewing being the largest and most well known...and we also have an assortment of smaller brewerie...tale a peak and take a tour.

Southeastern Wisconsin in the summer....oh yeah....I can smell the bratwurst sizzling on the BBQ and the landscaped yards with flowers of every hue...the annuals that show off their jewel tones and the oerennial blooms and bushes in every pastel shade...pinks, blues and purples. Hmmmm...and what to do...how about wjat to do FIRST !  Milwaukee is the city of festivals all summer long.  Stay tuned to this blog and this link...this is last year's outstanding offering of Summerfest...the lakefront music and food fest we have every summer.

Be Friendly and Polite Realtors...

open house sign   for sale arrow

While the places we put these signs are technically part of the city's property and not the homeowner's.......the homeowner does maintain it.....water it, cut and feed it.  Sooooo...to be polite....we always ask permission.  We give them something from our ad specialty stash of imprinted items whether it's a calendar or coffee mug....the next tme they see it...they'll remember those polite realtors....and maybe just maybe, when they know someone who is selling or they decde to sell their home...the Hansons will come to mind.

It just takes a minute....and what always surprises us most is that the homeower ivariably says we are the very first Realtors who ever ever asked permisson before they put up a sign.

HELP...I have been scammed.....Read This Before You Fall Prey.....

In an effort to improve my website positioning and not rely on what had become an expensive and non-lead productive PPC source...I cast my net and found several realtors who relied heavily on webleads and used a company called Internet Advancement.....soooooo I called, put the phone on speaker and my husband and I listened intently to the sales pitch.....in 15 days you see some results and by 120 days we would need at least one assistant if not more to keep up with the business....OK then....$5,000 and then when I was sitting on top of the  web in 120 days, $140 per month maintenance....

Sixty days passed,...not one lead....oh just be patient, I was way ahead of schedule in the rankings....90 days...not one lead....patience, patience they told me....I kept objecting and telling them I could hardly believe that on the magical 120th day, the flood gates of leads would open...I had now talked to about half a dozen people at the company and no results....oh yes......WHOOPS...they don't know what happened but it was all done incorrectly,.....it is now almost 6 months...they have $5,280 and I have zip...calls and e-mail go unanswered...oh surprise....Can anyone suggest a solution ?

About six years ago during a more than difficult period in my life....just having had knee surgery, both parents in separate intensive care units, trying to be self-employed....I woke one day and looking across the room looked like looking thru a glass of water....eye rubbing and washing to no avail...allergies my always overly optimistic husband said...no, I knew that wasn't it...it was unlike any feeling I had before.  I marched directly to the eye doctor....a very sweet man in his 70's...."Sally,whenever you have a sudden and drastic change in your vision, the cause is not your eyes." He suggested a quick trip to an internist who confirmed his diagnosis...I was diabetic.  My maternal grandmother had been....but not till her 70's...my Dad's brother was...but not till his 60's and I wasn't even 50...not fair, not fair. Fair or not....after seeing a series of endocrinologists who pumped me full of gallons of insulin my weight escalated....and sleep apnea set in with fatique....and to make a long story longer....the Mayor Clinic doctor suggested a different insulin that no doctor knew about in the greater Milwaukee area...blood sugar got to near normal and life was good...weight bad...but while on still large doses of insulin, the weight would go nowhere despite strict diet and exercise. And then the miracle insulin was discontinued...oh gee thanks Eli Lily...you aren't making enough money from my daily use and now I am out of luck. So trial and error of other insulins...no they are not all alike...and short and long acting are not the only differences.

Oh well....now....if you don't believe that every person who comes into your life, comes for a reason and it is up to you to learn what that is....try that philosophy for a while...I find it fits well. I have a friend Kate who had been heavy for the more than 30 years  have had the pleasure of knowing her. Kate is very bright and very interesting....she plays poker with the best, is a retired radio advertising sales person...knows more about football than any man I know...can tell you how astrologically sound you are...laughs easily and loves life. Kate told me why she was now a shadow of her former self.  I went to the seminar held by the Bariatric Institute of Wisconsin and listened, learned...and got tested head...(yes, you do need to see a shrink..) to toe.Since we pay $1400 a month for insurance I could not justify paying for this surgery myself....so after a year of working to convince the insurance company they would be better off paying for this operation than the multiplicity of problems caused by diabetes and obesity...they agreed.  It's only been a week....Kate is my fairy Godmother and came into my life for lots of reasons...but certainly to save it with this surgery was one of them.

What's the point....the point is....if you know someone who is insulin resistant and diabetic Someone who has tried a zillion diets and is still obese but determined not to be...Please show them this post....Please tell them to check it out...call the clinic for information...read it on the internet....and then go do it...a week later...for the first time in years my blood sugar is near normal with very little medication...sleep apnea is on the run...I have lost 10 pounds the first week....and I feel like a new person...Spread the word please...if diabetes runs in your family....be careful....test...watch your diet and exercise...life is toooo short..don't make it shorter !
